Unlike most people out there, I really love to mow my lawn – I find it relaxing and beautiful, I love the smell of the cut grass and I enjoy feeling the sun on my skin, while getting some alone time with my thoughts. However, this great activity could easily turn into a drag if the lawn mower you’re using is a low quality one. In order to make sure that doesn’t happen, we’ve gone through all the trouble of testing and researching cheap lawnmowers, so you don’t have to risk anything. The results are here: the best push lawn mowers under $300 for 2018.
We did all the research to save you time (and money) and I am sure you’ll find your new favorite here on our list. The best thing: we decided not to go too crazy budget-wise because there are still great options out there that don’t cost a fortune. Really, I never spent $700 or something similar on a lawnmower and I see no reason to when we have such great options at lower prices.
So let’s not waste any time and let’s see our picks for the best push lawn mowers under $300 below, with all the details you need to know!

1. Sun Joe Mow Joe
If the budget is tight, I would recommend going for the Mow Joe from Sun Joe. It allows you to quickly and efficiently mow your lawn and it is best suited, in my opinion, for smaller yards and maintenance jobs. I say this because it is an electrical mower. Before you run away from it, let me tell you that it indeed does a good job and it’s very durable!
I would not recommend it for very large yards or for those moments when the grass is too high, but if you regularly mow your yard, this one is perfect and it’s extremely cheap.
It has a nice 14-inch cutting width and 3-position, manually adjustable cutting heights. It also comes with a 10.6-gallon hard-top rear bag for collecting the bag, but it also works without it attached if you just want to leave the grass behind. It’s not the most silent push lawn mower you’ve ever seen, but not too loud to drive you crazy.
Be careful if you purchase a cord as well and make sure you pair it with the correct one: you will need a 14 gauge (or, for even more safety and extend its life, a 12 gauge) chord, so don’t follow Amazon’s recommended 16 gauge one. If you do this, you’ll keep the motor alive for years and you’ll have no complaints for this extremely cheap but highly useful push lawn mower.
2. GreenWorks 25022
This is actually the #1 best selling push / walk-behind lawnmower on Amazon at the original publishing date of this article, with an incredible rating of 4.3 stars out of five, so this says a lot of its high quality! Although it’s a bit more expensive than my first recommendation, it does know a lot more tricks and it’s much more useful.
It has 7 height adjustments when it comes to cutting grass, as well as multiple options for grass clippings from rear bagging, side discharge and mulching capabilities, which is extremely nice. It has a large 20″ Cutting width, which makes it a great choice for larger yards as well.
The downside is that it’s also a corded lawn mower, so you again have to get a cord (I recommend the 14 gauge or 12 gauge one, not the 16 one!) but that’s really not a big Con in my opinion, as long as this lawn mower gets the job done – and it does so quickly and nicely.
Plus, it’s also pretty quiet for a lawnmower, so it really ticks all the boxes. A great product overall, one you will be very happy with!
3. Lawn-Boy 17732
Despite the fact that it doesn’t have the catchiest name of them all (17732), this Lawn-Boy lawnmower is my top pick (but don’t forget to check out the bonus entry below as well!). It is strong, durable and does a great job: it’s gas powered so you don’t have to worry about carrying the cord around, which is also a bonus.
It’s very easy to mow your yard with it and extremely easy to maneuver thanks to its rear wheel drive self-propel design. It also has a really large bag so you don’t have to empty it too often, and two extra modes that allow for mulching or side discharge.
As a downside, it only has two heights for the grass cutting options, but in the end this is not a big problem. What matters the most is that it’s gas powered, so it’s easy to move it around without having to worry about the chord, it does a good job and can go through higher or thicker grass without any problem. A very good choice for a great price and our top pick as the best lawnmower under $300 on the market right now!
Lawn mowing will surely become a hobby – or at least something you’ll enjoy doing using these products. If not, at least it will be something you’ll do quickly and nicely because these are, in my opinion, the best push lawn mowers under $300 in 2018.
