Unlike most people out there, I really love to mow my lawn – I find it relaxing and nice, I love the smell of the cut grass and I enjoy feeling the sun on my skin. However, this great activity could easily turn into a drag if the lawn mower you’re using would be one of very low quality. In order to make sure that doesn’t happen, I have gone through and tested a bunch of lawnmowers and I am here to share with you my results: the best push lawn mowers under $300 for 2016.
I did all the research to save yo time and I am sure you’ll find a new favorite here. The best thing: I decided not to go too crazy budget-wise because there are still great options out there that don’t cost a fortune. Really, I never spent $700 or something similar on a lawnmower and I see no reason to when we have such great options at lower prices. So let’s not waste any time and let’s see my picks for the best push lawn mowers under $300!
1. Sun Joe Mow Joe
If the budget is tight, I would recommend going for the Mow Joe from Sun Joe. It allows you to quickly and efficiently mow your lawn and it is best suited, in my opinion, for smaller yards and maintenance jobs. I say this because it is an electrical mower. Before you run away from it, let me tell you that it indeed does a good job and it’s very durable! I would not recommend it for very large yards or for those moments when the grass is too high, but if you regularly mow your yard, this one is perfect and it’s extremely cheap.
It has a nice 14-inch cutting width and 3-position, manually adjustable cutting heights. It also comes with a 10.6-gallon hard-top rear bag for collecting the bag, but it also works without it attached if you just want to leave the grass behind. It’s not the most silent push lawn mower you’ve ever seen, but not too loud to drive you crazy. Be careful if you purchase a cord as well and make sure you pair it with the correct one: you will need a 14 gauge (or, for even more safety and extend its life, a 12 gauge) chord, so don’t follow Amazon’s recommended 16 gauge one! If you do this, you’ll keep the motor alive for years and you’ll have no complaints for this extremely cheap but highly useful push lawn mower that you can get for under $150!
2. GreenWorks 25022
This is actually the #1 best selling push / walk-behind lawnmower on Amazon with an incredible rating of 4.3 stars out of five, so this says a lot of its high quality! Although it’s a bit more expensive than my first recommendation, it does know a lot more tricks and it’s much more useful. It has 7 height adjustments when it comes to cutting grass, as well as multiple options for grass clippings from rear bagging, side discharge and mulching capabilities, which is extremely nice. It has a large 20″ Cutting width, which makes it a great choice for larger yards as well.
The downside is that it’s also a corded lawn mower, so you again have to get a cord (I recommend the 14 gauge or 12 gauge one, not the 16 one!) but that’s really not a big Con in my opinion, as long as this lawn mower gets the job done – and it does so quickly and nicely. Plus, it’s also pretty quiet for a lawnmower, so it really ticks all the boxes. A great product and if you hurry to get it now, you’ll also get a $54 discount on it (discount available at the moment of writing, it might not be available later on – check the link below to see if the discount is still there).
3. Lawn-Boy 17732
Despite the fact that it doesn’t have the catchiest name of them all (17732), this Lawn-Boy lawnmower is my top pick (but don’t forget to check out the bonus entry below as well!). It is strong, durable and does a great job: it’s gas powered so you don’t have to worry about carrying the cord around, which is also a bonus. It’s very easy to mow your yard with it and extremely easy to maneuver thanks to its rear wheel drive self-propel design. It also has a really large bag so you don’t have to empty it too often, and two extra modes that allow for mulching or side discharge.
As a downside, it only has two heights for the grass cutting options, but in the end this is not a big problem. What matters the most is that it’s gas powered, so it’s easy to move it around without having to worry about the chord, it does a good job and can go through higher or thicker grass without any problem. A very good choice for a great price and our top pick for the best lawnmowers under $300!
4. Bonus Entry: Black & Decker SPCM1936
A Black & Decker is a Black & Decker and I just found this amazing deal for it, so I had to include it on our list as a bonus. Right now, there’s an insane sale running for this great push lawn mower: a discount of $227 which is absolutely amazing and an offer you can’t refuse. Check it out here (but do it quickly as we don’t know when the discount ends) – just click the Black & Decker SPCM1936 on the page to see everything about it.
Or if you want me to tell you, let’s do it! We’re talking about an Electric Self-Propelled Lawn Mower, but the good thing about it is that it’s cordless and comes with a removable battery which can be charged anywhere as long as you have a power source. So you still don’t have to worry about the cord and you get a great power output too: it cuts the grass on 1/3 acre on one charge, so it’s pretty good! It is also very quiet and has easy to adjust cutting height. The only downside in my opinion is that it’s quite heavy – but this also means that you’ll no trouble with the bag getting too heavy to pull the tip over.
All in all, this is really worth checking out if the discount is still available – so click here to check it out right now on Amazon. Make sure you select the Black & Decker SPCM1936 from the list and decide if it’s the one you’d like to get or not!
Lawn mowing will surely become a hobby – or at least something you’ll enjoy doing using these products. If not, at least it will be something you’ll do quickly and nicely because these are, in my opinion, the best push lawn mowers under $300 in 2016.
